Introduction:

At the Bernalillo County Home Visitation Work Group (BCHVWG) Coalition, we are unwaveringly committed to ensuring the optimal health of expectant mothers and children from conception to age five. In this blog post, we’ll explore how our dedicated home visitors, armed with research-supported strategies, make a significant difference in promoting and safeguarding the health of both expectant mothers and their newborns.

Prenatal Care Advocacy

We understand the critical importance of prenatal care in setting the stage for a healthy pregnancy and birth. Our home visitors work closely with pregnant individuals, providing the support and encouragement needed to seek timely and regular prenatal care. Our data proudly demonstrates the impact of this advocacy, with an astounding 99.2 percent of expectant mothers enrolled in our program receiving prenatal care. What’s even more remarkable is that 98.6 percent of them received prenatal care before entering the third trimester of pregnancy. (WHERE DID THIS COME FROM – NOT ACCURATE) These figures surpass statewide averages and underscore the positive influence of home visiting in ensuring that expectant mothers receive the care they deserve.

Early Health Insurance and Primary Care

Our support extends beyond encouragement alone. When additional healthcare needs or risks are identified, we step in to assist families in establishing health insurance and connecting them with primary care providers. Ensuring access to essential healthcare services is fundamental to promoting the health and well-being of both mothers and children. Our commitment is to leave no family without the healthcare resources they require.  Home visiting services are FREE!

Reducing Preterm Births

Home visiting plays a pivotal role in measuring and improving prenatal, maternal, infant, and child health outcomes. Enrolling in home visiting during pregnancy can have a significant reduction in preterm births, a milestone we all want to celebrate. We believe that every child deserves a healthy start in life, and this achievement reaffirms our dedication to supporting families in achieving this goal.

A Lifelong Commitment to Health

Our commitment to promoting optimal health doesn’t end at birth. It extends through the early years of childhood because we firmly believe that every child deserves a healthy and thriving beginning. We are here to support families on their journey toward optimal health for both mother and child.
