Evidence-Based Care & Support for People with Co-Occurring Substance Use Disorders and Eating Disorders
Eating disorders and substance use disorders often co-occur in young people, and understanding their connection is critical to effective intervention. This session examines the epidemiology of co-occurrence, diagnostic criteria, and the genetic and environmental factors that drive both conditions. Participants will explore resiliency-focused approaches, whole-person treatment recommendations, and practical tools for identifying high-risk behaviors and connecting dually diagnosed youth to immediate support and referral resources.
